COVID-19: Terry supports the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s Play From Home program.

All of these seriously ill and severely immunocompromised children were already fighting with exemplary courage against cancer, disabling illness or severe disability. And suddenly, COVID-19 happened!

Mission: to create smiles

The Starlight Children’s Foundation has made it its mission to “create priceless smiles and memories for seriously ill children.” Starlight achieves all the activities and services related to its mission thanks to the exceptional generosity of its donors and the unfailing support of organizations such as the Pomerantz Foundation.

Children’s dreams on hold

Yes, all of a sudden, the COVID-19 pandemic suspended all those children’s dreams, stopped those hundreds of smiles that were about to light up, and extinguished those thousands of stars that were ready to shine in all those eyes full of hope, full of future.

COVID-19 cancelled everything

“Seriously ill children who were dreaming about it can no longer go and see a Canadiens hockey match, nor spend time with their favourite athlete. The day camps, visits and Starlight parties at the hospital are also over. Because of COVID-19, everything has been cancelled, further isolating kids who were already isolated, already severely burdened, and sometimes marginalized,” laments philanthropist Terry Pomerantz.

Starlight’s genius

“But the Starlight team is never short of great ideas,” Terry marvels. “They’ve developed the wonderful Play From Home Packs program. Starlight plans to send those Packs to more than 2,000 seriously ill children,” he continues.

Each Play From Home package contains board games, craft kits and other interactive activities. The children can also login to Facebook Live to participate in group activities led by special guest Captain Starlight.

Play From Home Packs, to break the isolation of sick kids

Terry invites you to make a donation to the Starlight Children’s Foundation: “By donating $100 today, you can send a Pack to a critically ill child who is isolated in their home. Starlight will ensure that your donation is fully invested in a package.”

Join Terry in creating new smiles

It is with a broad smile that Terry Pomerantz concludes: “When he or she will receive their Play at Home Pack, there is absolutely no doubt that you will light up the smile and dozens of stars in the eyes of a seriously ill child again!”
